NZQA Unit standard 18412 - Explain the requirement of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996
Are you a person in charge of a hazardous substance location?
Do you understand your roles and responsibilities as a “person in charge”?
Do you understand hazardous substances legislation, compliance and the law?
This half day interactive course is designed to provide Managers, Supervisors and Persons in Charge with knowledge of their specific responsibilities under the hazardous substance legislation.

Successful completion of this course and assessment will allow a person to understand their requirements and explain the requirement of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 as required for NZQA unit standards 18412 (Explain the requirement of the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 Level 4, Credits 6).

Specific responsibilities for Persons in Charge
Administrative duties
Emergency management requirements
Disposal of hazardous substances
Identification and documentation
Reporting incidents
Discussions for site specific practical application
Understanding HSNO control regulations
You must be an Approved Handler to attend this course, or have completed the two day course for approved handler responsibilities
