Then this course is for you!

Overview: 

A full two-day course for staff that work at height, which will have many practical components woven into the theory sessions. The course will focus on specific needs and requirements of participants on the course, and will be tailor made for their working environments.

Learning outcomes:

Successful completion of this course will enable a person to identify, develop and implement the correct strategy suitable systems for working at height.
Gain knowledge in:

  • Legislative requirements
  • Safety harnesses when working at height, associate hazards and systems and equipment
  • How to check, fit and safely use a safety harness where a fall hazard exists at height.
  • General and self-rescue plan to be activated in the event of a fall
  • Knots and lines, anchor points, ARCHER checks, horizontal and vertical proprietary fall arrest systems
  • How to use and disestablish proprietary fall arrest systems.

Unit standards:

Participants will have the opportunity to achieve the following unit standards as partof the course:

Working at height - Level 1 (2 day course)

US 23229 Use a safety harness for personal fall prevention  Level 3 Credits 4
US 15757 Use, install and disestablish proprietary fall arrest systems when working at height Level 3 Credits 4
Please note u/s 23229 is a prerequisite for u/s 15757 and participants must complete and achieve all components of each unit standard to pass the course and be deemed competent.

Working at height - Level 2 (3 day course)

US 17600 Explain safe work practices for working at heights Level 3 Credits 3
US 25045 Employ height safety equipment in the workplace Level 3 Credits 4
US 23229 Use a safety harness for personal fall prevention Level 3 Credits 4
US 15757 Use, install and disestablish proprietary fall arrest systems when working at height Level 3 Credits 4
